SIMONE AUGHTERLONY & JORGE LEÓN | "TO SERVE"
As well as being an essential part of the bourgeois household in recent history, the maid has continued to feed the imagery and fascination of our conscience, finding expression through diverse representations in cinema, literature and theater. One feminist revolution later and acknowledging that the status of maids has evolved, Simone Aughterlony and Jorge Leo´n ask what layers lie behind this symbol of servitude and how they are re-enacted in our power relations today.

Jorge Leo´n and Simone Aughterlony first began working together in the context of Meg Stuart’s project, “Highway 101” (2001). Leo´n later be- came involved as dramaturge in Aughterlony’s “Between Amateurs” (2006) and “Tonic” (2007). In “To Serve,” they collaborate on a project that plays out over three modules in the hope of provoking possible readings, understandings and dialogue.
