SALVA SANCHIS | BIO
Salva Sanchis is born in Manresa, a city near Barcelona. He studied theatre at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. In 1995 he moved to Belgium to study at P.A.R.T.S. He was part of the first graduation in 1998.
Salva collaborated in the period 2000-2004 with the choreographer Marc Vanrunxt, the video artist Elke Vandermeerschen and the visual artist Kristof Van Gestel. In 2003, Salva became part of the Rosas Company to work for the performance "Bitches Brew / Tacoma Narrows" by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. The meeting with Anne Teresa led to a choreographic collaboration in the two following Rosas productions, "Desh and Raga for the Rainy Season" and "A Love Supreme". In 2004 he created "Salva Sanchis / Bruno Vansina Double Duet Live" and in 2005 "Double Trio Live". In 2006 / 2007 Rosas produced Salva’s own creation "Still Live". His most recent piece "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" premiered in 2008 and is his 15th creation as choreographer. Salva is currently preparing a choreography for the 4th year students at P.A.R.T.S. in collaboration with La Monnaie in Brussels to be premiered in March 2010. He will also has premiered a solo collaboration with musician Kris Defoort in February 2010 called "Action". After that, in October 2010, he participates as a guest choreographer in Marc Vanrunxt new piece "For Edward Krasinski". In November 2010, he brings back together the team of "Objects in mirror…" for a new creation to be premiered in February 2011, titled "now h e r e". Since 2009, he collaborates with Bernard Foccroulle on a long-term series of dance performances with live organ music in different churches in Europe. Salva Sanchis is currently, together with Marc Vanrunxt and the collective C&H, a member of Kunst/Werk vzw, a subsidized dance company based in Belgium. (1800) |
