Imagine you are invited to celebrate the ending of Mankind as a politically and sociologically complex concept, carrying thousands of years of unfinished and unresolved History. Imagine that at the same time you are also celebrating the first new clones that you have contributed to yourself by attending this Symposium.
Clones who will be the future “homo-narrationalis”, a new emotional man with an enormous historical, political, cultural and sociological database, and yet no personal link, no empathy, no involvement with any past facts. A man aware of the fictionality of his roots. Of the fictionality of his memory. A man with a possibility of starting over, of having a second chance. Are you ready to take the decision for that last jump into an unknown model of mankind?
Banquet is a transdisciplinary project where performers, video makers, a sound designer, interviews with scientists and a cuisine chef produce together an unexpected environment. This event is simultaneously a dinner, a performance, a strange concert and a penetrating debate on cloning, immortality and memory. A pianuter (genetically modified piano) will start and end the dinner, giving it multiple environments and suggesting different spaces with subtle changes, making the sound move from table to table, and back to his piano.
