Faustin Linyekula lives and works
in Kisangani, third city of the Democratic Republic of
Congo, the former Zaire, the former Belgian Congo, the
former Congo Free State. In Dinozord, he visits the recent
history of the city he grew in, marked by colonialism and
tyranny and torn apart by a bloody civil war. What dreams
and aspirations are left for the inhabitants of Kisangani?
How to devolve to the victims their names and their dignity,
as they lay buried in mass graves on the cemetery of the
city?
Dinozord is an impressive tale about oppression and resistance,
a requiem that mourns the dead of endless wars and conflicts.
But it is also a resolute and hopeful affirmation of the
power of art and beauty.
The clown Kabako travelled from town to town and from
village to village, he did not sell laughter or tears, but
dreams. His bag was full of poems…
